I recall making references to the seasons on the previous album (Reports of Snow) from the Oxford based musical collaborative Reichenbach Falls who are fronted by Abe Davies (vocals & acoustic guitar) and Jamie Cooper (electric guitar).
Well it seems once again appropriate to touch on the seasonal mood and whether deliberate or not the album release, it’s out on September the 14th, fits perfectly with the recording that plays out like the last days of summer in a beautiful sad way, the majority of the songs presenting themselves like a landscape in soft focus, frayed lead-vocals are accentuated against the nuanced arrangements and the track sequencing works perfectly creating an album that will stay with the long long after the summer fades.
It’s been a busy few months recently for Piney Gir – gigs, radio sessions, an appearance at Glastonbury, a trip to Japan with Gaz Coombes, and of course the release of her sixth solo album mR hYDE’S wILD rIDE.
Ever busy, she now has an Autumn tour lined up in support of her forthcoming single Mouse Of A Ghost / Tilt A Whirl.
Released on 25th September, It’s a six track ‘DOUBLE A-side’ digital only bonanza for the third single from Piney Gir’s latest album mR. hYDE’S wILD rIDE.
The six track version is an iTunes exclusive while the standard four track version will be available everywhere else.
There are two remixes of the double A sides by Soulsby Synths & Dreamtrak plus the i-tunes bonus tracks which are both covers – ‘Something Stupid’ (Originally by Frank & Nancy Sinatra) and Alone Again Or (Originally by Love or you may know the version by The Damned.)
