From Music Fog this week Peter Case performing a track from his fantastic album Wig , Case has produced and performed on the upcoming album from Dead Rock West set for release early next year on Kasey Anderson’s (more) Red River Records, Kasey’s new album Heart of a Dog is set for release in December, he’s releasing a song a week at the albums website starting today.

By Simon, on September 5th, 2010 When the songs are that good it’s no surprise that there is a pair of albums out in the next month or so featuring covers of the late, great Townes van Zandt’s work.
The first one is Riding the Range – The songs of Townes Van Zandt, there’s an extra angle on this one as part of the proceeds from the sale goes to the QE2 Activity Centre, the album features 20 tracks in all from a great selection of artists including some personal favourites of mine, Danny & The Champions, Peter Case, Jeffery Foucault, Jeb Loy Nichols, Peter Bruntnell and of course Michael Weston King (who wrote the title track Riding the Range which Townes recorded and released as a single shortly before he died), I had the pleasure of seeing the last trio of singer songwriters performing together a couple of years ago and Weston King sang Marie on that occasion (always brings . . . → Read More: Townes – Covered and Covered Again

Taking advantage of the unseasonally fine weather of late I’ve been keeping fellow motorists amused with my impromptu performances – window down, arm hanging out the car keeping time on the door, singing (I use that term – loosely) at the top of my voice, maybe it’s all the sunshine but I’ve being playing a lot of turn it up loud rock ‘n’ roll stuff over the last few weeks, got a kick-ass mix tape based around some recent albums I’ve acquired on shuffle and repeat to beat the boredom out of the rush hour, in the mix are tracks from Drive-by Truckers, Paul Weller, Gaslight Anthem, The Whybirds, American Aquarium, Scott H.
