Jay Gonzalez presents “The Bitter Suite” by Jay Gonzalez — Kickstarter

Jay Gonzalez (DBT’s keyboard maestro), is after funding to release The Bitter Suite, a 5 song rock medley that’ll be pressed on a limited edition run of 180 gram vinyl with a unique etching on the flip-side, if you’re going to ask for funding then I think he’s hit on the best way – great selling job.

Taste the Difference

The Bitter Suite. If it reaches the goal, it’ll be pressed onto 180 gram vinyl. Some folks may question the validity of vinyl, but, in my opinion, you can taste the difference…

Nutria “Permanent Reminder of a Temporary Emotion” (Cowboy Angel Music 2010)

I had no idea about Jay Gonzalez previous music projects before adding his keyboard skills to the current Drive-by Truckers line up, well now I do, as along with front-man Bob Spires he was co-founder of Nutria, and together they were members of The Possibilities, whose albums I have flagged for download on eMusic when my account refreshes.

On this 7 track EP the full line up is Bob Spires (lead vocals, electric and acoustic guitars), Jay Gonzalez (keys, electric guitar, backing vocals), Jason Eshelman (drums, backing vocals), and David Weiglein (bass, keys, lap steel, keys, backing vocals) ,as Gonzalez left the band to join with the Drive-By Truckers, Nutria added Andy Pope (bass) and Mark Lawrence (guitar, bass, keys) who feature on two tracks on the EP.

Described as “catchy rock n roll” the 30 minute EP is a perfect antidote to the days humdrum, turned up it invites you to join in and belt out the chorus’, have a go yourself with Element of Surprise
