Gram Parsons November 5, 1946 – September 19, 1973 Fantastic one hour audio documentary hosted by the venerable Bob Harris who takes a look back at the enigma that is Gram Parsons, contributions from Polly Parsons, Emmylou Harris, Keith Richards, Phil Kaufman and some rare words of wisdom from the legend himself. Part 1 Grievous Angel_ The Gram Parsons Part 2 Grievous Angel_ The Gram Parsons  I didn’t make the connection immediately but after reading a short bio on Daniel Romano it clicked where I’d heard the name before, he was one third of the acoustic folk Daniel, Fred and Julie who released an album back in 2009 that collected a lot of positive reviews on net, I never got around to getting that album but collected a pair of mp3’s that had got lost and forgotten in my digital library – I aim to remedy this when my eMusic account tops up next month, along with checking out Romano’s solo debut. I digress a little because I’m supposed to be telling you a little about Mr. Romano and his solo album Sleep Beneath the Willow, released on You’ve Changed Records which he co-runs with Steven Lambke the album was recorded to two inch tape in Romano’s home studio in Ontaria, the man himself plays . . . → Read More: Daniel Romano – Sleep Beneath the Willow (You’ve Changed Records 2011) Rounding of the Gram theme this week by starting with two essential purchases. For watching – the Fallen Angel DVD written by ex-Long Ryder and Gram Parsons expert Sid Griffin (on a side note I am reliably informed the two photos that I used in the Grevious Angel post earlier this week were rescued by Sid from an A&M bin in L.A. in 1978 ) and Gandulf Hennig the DVD release contains extra footage that didn’t appear on the original broadcast edition shown on the BBC back in 2004 and is a must watch if you’re a Gram fan, there are contributions from the Parson’s family, Peter Buck and Chris Hillman as well of course as Emmylou and Keith Richards.
