Drawing on influences from the likes of Roddy Frame and Paddy McAloon and residing in the land were melody is king Peter James Millson is set to release his debut album, Sweet The Love That Meets Return, on April 28th. The Dorset based singer songwriter; working alongside Danny George Wilson (Danny And The Champions Of The World) has produced an album that reflects on love, life and the ever devious ways of the heart. Engineered and mixed at Reservoir Studios in North London the album features the aforementioned ‘Champs’ as Millson’s band throughout providing what is the perfect accompaniment to these wonderfully constructed songs. Millson, a professional photographer of note has decided to offload the cameras and concentrate on the his music for the time being and is hoping that ‘Sweet The Love That Meets Return’ will provide a worthwhile adventure.
“Back in the day… I used to photograph friends and their bands,” recalls Millson, “I Took my box of prints up to the NME. Trips abroad, very exciting. Then started doing portraits for The Guardian newspaper. Met lots of heroes of the music world. Published a book of photos called Home Entertainment. The National Portrait Gallery acquired six of my portraits. One of which was of the late Bert Jansch. Moved to Dorset with my family.”
“Found my guitar. Wrote songs like it was going out of fashion. Played hundreds of solo pub gigs and open mics with a few choice supports (Boo Hewerdine, Martha Tilston). Started re- cording at home. Had some fantastic mixes done by Adrian McNally (The Unthanks).”
“Asked Danny George Wilson (Danny & The Champions of the World; Grand Drive) to produce my first album. He gets the mixture of hope, love, regret and good times just right. He kept my inclination to sweeten things under control. I now have a record that I’m totally delighted with. Currently rehearsing the band and gearing up to take this thing to the people. Gradually learning to have a good time all the time.
Sweet The Love That Meets Return.”

Danny Wilson, having conquered 2013 with the release of Danny & The Champions Of The World’s hugely praised new record Stay True (“a gold standard album for UK Americana” – Q), has been wowing the crowds with his incredible new songs. A number of people claiming these shows having been amongst the top gigs they’d ever witnessed. Numerous end of year lists and polls echoed these thoughts, with the Americana UK reader’s poll crowning The Champs Best Band Of 2013, No.2 Album Of The Year and the Best Live Band of 2013.
Meanwhile, Peter Bruntnell (“one of Britain’s finest and most overlooked songwriters” – The Line Of Best Fit) released his Retrospective record back in the summer – a collection of songs from his outstanding back catalogue of albums, alongside a new version of Played Out, featuring Rumor.
Neil Halstead, previously known for his bands Slowdive and Mojave 3, following two solo records released through 4AD and then Jack Johnson’s Brushfire Records label, has most recently released an album as a member of Black Hearted Brother. Neil’ll fit in perfectly, being another “one of Britain’s greatest songwriters” (Time Out).
