On their self-titled fourth album The Lonely H deliver up a fine collection of roots rock, recorded at Sealab Studios in Nashville the five-piece band of Mark Fredson (Vox, Keys), Eric Whitman (Guitar), Ben Eyestone (Drums), Johnny Whitman (Bass) and Zach Setchfield (Guitar) entered the studio in 2012, with the assistance of Dexter Green (Caitlin Rose, Derek Hoke, the Greenhornes) who engineered and produced the recording and guest appearances including The Rolling Stones’ saxophonist Bobby Keys and Beat Surrender favourite Caitlin Rose the album took much longer than was envisaged to complete and ended up a year in making as the band worked to get the essence of their stage energy into the studio recording with several tracks on the album tracked live.

Seems an appropriate time to put this up – to compare and contrast to the excellent new album The Stand-in
Caitlin Rose’s album Own Side featured in my top albums of 2010 and has been on regular rotation since it’s release, my only disappointment is it’s not available on vinyl unlike Caitlin’s previous releases Dead Flowers and Gorilla Man, this year I’ve listened to a number of radio shows, session tracks and audio-visuals featuring songs from Caitlin’s latest album as well some great covers including one from Townes and one from Willy, so in the spirit of the season I’ve put a selection box of tracks together into one sweet compilation for you – get the whole album or individual tracks below.
