Beat Surrender – Best of 2014

BS

It’s that time of year again and over the next few days I’ll be attempting  to put up a few posts celebrating my personal favourites of 2014 many of which have featured in some form on Beat Surrender this year.

This year to avoid procrastination overload I’ve split my favourites into two camps and decided to group into a “Folk, Country & Americana Top Twenty” and a “Rock, Indie & Pop Top Twenty”, as always some of the artists could arguably not fit neither/either/or both but that’s editorial dictatorship for you.

Alongside albums, there have being some great , EP’s, outstanding singles in 2014 as well as some excellent compilation, tribute and live recordings – so time permitting I’ll be celebrating those as well.

There’s being some genuine surprises for me this year and more than a few album disappointments that I’ll not dwell on, thanks to everyone who’s submitted music during 2014, thank you to all the personal emails and the messages of support – it is, I’m sorry to say, an impossible task to listen to all of what arrives in the inbox let alone write about it and I’m sure I skipped over or missed as many great recordings as I’ve had the chance to blog about and anything of interest that arrived after mid November is in the to-do pile.

It being a strange kind of year on the home and work front and I’ve being making some adjustments along the way and this year at times the blog posts have  at being a little hurried and terse if your one of those who looks in regularly and has stuck with me then thank you.
