Brothers Through The Hill – Adelaide

A musical ‘band of brothers’ from a small town in Ontario Canada drawn to together to play a rocking brand of alt-country rock that will reward any fan of the genre, this is a fine début album that kicks of sweetly with a classic genre piece 66 Miles that sets the quality bar high but unlike some albums it doesn’t fade away and disappoint but rewards the listener with some fine song writing and smart melodic foot tapping tunes.

The band was formed when frontman Kyle Spinks (guitar / vocals) got together with his cousin James Walters (guitar) and best friend Pat Crosby (bass / vocals) before completing the quartet with Walter’s friend Mets on drums – in the summer of 2010 the brothers were approached by singer-songwriter and producer Brock Zeman who got them in the studio and with support from friends and family Adelaide was created released on Mud . . . → Read More: Brothers Through The Hill – Adelaide

Sunday Valley–To The Wind And On To Heaven

Lexington KY roots rockers Sunday Valley’s début long player gets straight down to business from the opening barnstormer All The Pretty Colors and sets out the bands straight-up approach of preaching their musical gospel, no frills, none needed, just throw it out there. Anyone lucky enough to go to a show is sure to be in for a high octane show, there are a few quieter moments too on the album as the guys feel their heart strings tugging and deliver up some classic tear in my beer numbers. I digress a little because I’m supposed to be telling you a little about Mr. Romano and his solo album Sleep Beneath the Willow, released on You’ve Changed Records which he co-runs with Steven Lambke the album was recorded to two inch tape in Romano’s home studio in Ontaria, the man himself plays . . . → Read More: Daniel Romano – Sleep Beneath the Willow (You’ve Changed Records 2011)

Hearts of Oak - Used To It Now

A song writing vehicle for nova Scotia born Nate Wallace, Hearts of Oak second album Used To It Now is out now, Wallace based out of Portland OR has assembled a quality support cast of local musicians for the recording, and whilst there’s no attempt to re-write the alt-country rule book Wallace has a knack for melody and has released a solid album of slow burning low-key alt-country songs.
