Sometimes it takes a while but I get there in the end, this album came out back in April but didn’t end up on my playlist until later in the year which is a travesty given it’s one of the very best albums of the year and so I finally get around to singing it’s praises now.
Kicking off with a blast of mariachi trumpets, a classic country shuffle and a healthy helping of twang I’ve Been Gone sets the album of perfectly, the great thing is though it just keeps getting better and better the further into the album you go, no duds, no filler, just wonderfully expressive country sentiment and narrative, gift wrapped and adorned with sweet melodies, yearning and heartache the albums ten tracks are all Muth originals and are served up by a first class team of players and back room boys.
