Quarter Mile Thunder – Twist

Who needs to shout when a few simple twists work for you, aptly described as ‘space folk‘ Quarter Mile Thunder have released an album that combines folk sensibilities without being constrained to the traditional sentiment and instrumentation, combining acoustic guitar and banjo with saxophone and synthesizers.

Quarter Mile Thunder’s genesis was not borne of a eureka moment but shaped by a convergence of dreams, frustration and loss that shapes and fuels many artists visions for their music, the journey ultimately sculpts the work.

Sundays tuned in to 6Music are one of my favourite weekend pass-times, Cerys, Huey and Jarvis my favourites and recently the erstwhile Mr Cocker played a track from Twist on his Sunday Service – high praise indeed.

The eight track release is available to download now from Bandcamp on a pay-what-you-want basis.
