Pull It Together

Seattle-based singer/songwriter Shannon Stephens third album, Pull It Together is out now on Asthmatic Kitty, having taken a voluntary hiatus from music in 1999 after releasing her self-titled debut the former vocalist with Marzuki a folk-rock outfit that included the alternative spelling Stevens in the guise of the critically acclaimed Sufjan, Stephens returned to the business in 2009 with her second solo album The Breadwinner, fast-forward to 2012 and we have the self-produced third Pull It Together to enjoy.

Created with assistance from Grammy-award winning engineer Kory Kruckenberg and featuring a fine supporting cast including Jeff Fielder (Mark Lanegan, Isobel Campbell) on guitar, James McAlister(Sufjan Stevens, Pedro the Lion) on drums and Steve Moore (Sufjan Stevens, Laura Veirs) on keys as well as a guest appearance from Will Oldham a.k.a. Bonnie Prince Billy who duets with Stephens on Faces Like Ours, Oldham having closed out his album Lie Down in the Light (Drag City, 2008), with a cover of Stephens “I’ll Be Glad”.
