The personal union of Six Shooter artists Melissa McClelland and Luke Doucet finds an artistic outlet in the form of Whitehorse which gets a release of the Canadian label later this month, it is of course not the pairs first musical collaboration, both have played on each others albums and Doucet handled the production of McClelland’s trio of solo albums and between them they’ve gathered a number well deserved nominations and awards from the Canadian Folk Music Awards, the Hamilton Music Awards, Independent Music Awards, Juno’s and Polaris.
For this musical partnership, short album / long EP call it either as it clock in at eight tracks and 24 minutes and brings together reworked tunes from both solo careers, Doucet’s Broken from his 2005 album Broken (and other rogue states) and album highlight Passenger 24 from McClelland 2006 release Thumbelina’s One Night Stand along with the oft covered Springsteen classic I’m On Fire, the opening and closing Part I and Part II Eulogy for Whiskers maybe hint at interesting things to come from future collaborations.
