The Greencards – The Brick Album

2315---db1ef451a5b458d7

The Brick Album is the fifth from The Greencards, the four-piece blue/new grass band are headed up by Australians Carol Young and Kym Warner, who have recently recruited two new members to the group, Tyler Andal, (fiddle) and Carl Miner (guitar), the album is released on the bands own label and was financed by themselves with a little help from their fans, who purchased a brick and got their names printed on the album sleeve and of course a pre-release copy of the album. The albums features guest appearances from notables Sam Bush and Vince Gill and is a quality offering of bluegrass-folk with top notch musicianship on display.

The album kicks of with Sam Bush guesting (slide resonator) on Make It Out West which gets the album of to a superb start – you can pick up a freebie in exchange for your email address here.

The album runs to thirteen tracks and in typical bluegrass fashion there a trio of instrumentals on the third and final one after a brief pause a hidden track is uncovered, a re-working of a traditional tune Bury Me Beneath The Willow it’s a perfect ending to a solid album that was recorded with over dubs and minimal studio isolation, “What you’re hearing is all one take, If someone really didn’t like what we’d done, we’d play it all again from the top rather than drop the part in. When you drop in a part, you lose a little bit of the feel. You’ve got to get a run-up to it.” – Carol Young.
