Danny Schmidt is touring England and Wales through June and July in support of his seventh album Man of Many Moons, the album is bare-bones affair with limited instrumentation giving centre stage to Schmidt’s clean vocal and sweet guitar, there are ten Schmidt originals on the album and an excellent cover of Bob Dylan’s Buckets of Rain, the Austin singer songwriter is an artistic all-rounder who not only writes and records wonderful folk music but is an excellent photographer, he designs all of his own artwork for his albums and has produced albums for friends and his partner Carrie Elkin who appears on Man of Many Moons along with Raina Rose adding their vocal talents to the album.
It’s a beautifully constructed piece of work and one for listening to without distraction to appreciate the excellent song craft, the tour takes in a number of intimate venues and house concerts which are a perfect fit for Schmidt’s brand of troubadour music and listening to the album it’s easy to imagine the man himself is in the room with you, highlights for me the the political Guilty By Association Blues and Almost Around The World.
