Amy Lashley got a brief mention earlier this year for her appearance on long time partner Otis Gibbs excellent Joe Hills Ashes album, this time she’s front and centre on this solo release, a round dozen tracks with Gibbs handling production their team work has produced the goods once again on this fine album, encompassing a range of roots styles on this album of original music.
My favourite track from the album is Homebody Blues “written as a tribute to the few folks in this world who are indeed happy with their lot in life. People who don’t worry themselves with lottery tickets, or the latest gadget, but are instead on a quest for simplicity.”
Having suffered from unpredictable bouts stage fright she admits that she’s excessively sensitive and often panics in crowded rooms or when making small talk with people she’s not familiar with, Lashley rarely performs live and prefers to concentrate her focus on writing and recording which has paid dividends on Travels of a Homebody
