The Beauties – S/T (Six Shooter Records 2010)

Another one from the Six Shooter label that’s caught my attention, The Beauties got together in 2006 at The Dakota Tavern in Toronto where they had  regular Sunday night slot blasting out their own brand of rough hewn roots rock to the bars regulars, a perfect accompaniment to sinking some beers and rocking out – the band have opened for Broken Social Scene and Justin Rutledge and played with Ron Sexsmith, Jim Cuddy and Serena Ryder, their début release came out in June and includes nine originals plus an excellent cover of Holly Golightly’s Devil Do.
