Got to be honest I had no idea who Guthrie Kennard was before reading the press-release to his latest album Matchbox, so I discover he’s released several solo albums as well as playing bass for the legendary Ray Wylie Hubbard who produced this release - guaranteeing it’s worth listening to.
The album’s a fine set of Texas country-blues, solid earthy vocal, strong lyrics and a minimal production that lets the songs speak for themselves, excellent stuff, had to post the song with the British connection of course.
