For her fifth studio album Halifax Nova Scotia based singer-songwriter Amelia Curran returned to her birthplace in St. Johns Newfoundland and Labrador where her musical journey began busking on the streets of her home-town, the album Hunter,Hunter was nearly two years in the making drawing it’s emotive themes from the ashes of a failed relationship and inspiration from the return home.
Recorded in various locations in St. Johns including an abandoned CBC building and an old farm house on the outskirts of the town, the resulting album is a rewarding one, a literate, poetic and captivating collection of country-folk songs – the album has already picked up a Juno award for Roots and Traditional Album Of The Year, saving the best for last my pick from the album the final one:
