Sometimes things just have to be straight forward and uncomplicated, you can dress alt-country up anyway you want but for me it’s best taken neat, and this is how Hearts & Daggers serve it up, with a notable exception.
Cash, convicts, boxcars, hard times, the sweat of a working man – it’s all to be found on the band’s debut full length release “And Then There Was Dust” a collection of eleven songs including a cover of Bruce Hancock’s Boxcar, and at odd’s with the albums overall style but seamlessly inserted is a spoken word makeover for a poem written by Rick Mulkey called Bluefield Breakdown with steel and banjo provided by guest musicians from Chatham County Line.
The band are based out of Raleigh NC, Kevin Wolfe plays acoustic guitar is the bands songwriter and lead vocalist ,drums come from Marshall Miller, bass is handled by Steve Judge with Brit Tim Shearer on lead guitar duties.
