Truth and Salvage Co – S/T (2010)

Truth and Salvage Co are a six piece roots rock band based in LA but with their origins in Atlanta, New Orleans, Indianapolis, Tupelo and Ohio, with four song-writers and lead vocalists the band members bring together their collective influences on their excellent self titled début full length , the twelve track album produced by The Black Crowes’ front-man Chris Robinson was released on May 25th and well worth getting your hands on.

The band toured extensively in 2009 opening for The Black Crowes and this year have been on tour with The Avett Brothers, their sound is a mash up of Laurel Canyon country, southern rock and soul with some sweet four part harmonies, they got together when they met at Hollywood’s Hotel Café where Tim Jones (vocals / guitar) was the venue’s talent booker, quickly realising their union was getting the creative juices flowing Truth and Salvage Co. was born, alongside Tim Jones are Scott Kinnebrew  (vocals / guitar), Bill “Smitty” Smith  (vocals / drums), Walker Young (vocals / keys) , Joe Edel (bass) and Adam Grace (keys).

The songs range reflect the guys diverse influences, highlights include the opening track Hail Hail a sing-along celebration of friends and good times ,Call Back a track whose melody and whirling Hammond quickly embeds itself and has you joining in instinctively, Welcome to LA a classic country-rock cut, Old Piano a ragged edged contemplative number and my favourite track from the album, the closing cut
Pure Mountain Angel

More from the band can be found at Daytrotter where they recorded a session at the tail end of last year, here’s the link
