Thank You All

When I started blogging around a year ago I had no idea where it would lead or what to expect and it’s being a great experience for me. So a big thank you to everyone who’s paid a visit by accident or design over the last year, to anyone who’s a posted a comment, sent me emails of support, recommendations and links, special thanks to my fellow bloggers for their support, for the links back to Beat Surrender and acknowledgements, and for all those involved in the mighty Bird List. Big thanks to all the artists and labels for sending me so much great music to listen to and write about, thanks for the CD’s and downloads, thanks to anyone who’s submitted anything through Reviewshine and thanks for all those who taken the time to send messages of appreciation.

I’ve tried to follow up on everything I’ve been sent, but as the years . . . → Read More: Thank You All

Waterloo Sunset – Revisited

Back in March 09 I wrote about one of my favourite songs of all time Waterloo Sunset and the musical avenues and alleyways that this song led me down. NPR recently broadcast The Kinks Choral Concert, the original performance took place at New York City’s Town Hall, back on Nov. 20, Ray Davies was joined by the Dessoff Chamber Choir led by David Temple and his touring band Bill Shanley (guitars), Dick Nolan (bass), Damon Wilson (drums) and Ian Gibbons (keyboards), the performance of choral renditions of some of the greatest Kinks songs of course included Waterloo Sunset. The full set list was. Shangri-la Victoria Working Man’s Cafe See My Friends You Really Got Me Village Green Picture Book Big Sky Do You Remember Walter? Johnny Thunder Village Green Preservation Society Celluloid Heroes Waterloo Sunset Days You Really Got Me

You can listen to and download the full concert at NPR, here’s Waterloo Sunset from that performance.

More Twang Volume II

Back in August I posted a twang laden mixtape with a selection of tunes from bands from Europe, Australia and North America, I tried to mix it up with some names and some less well acts, the mix went down very well so I’ve stuck to the formula and as promised here’s another Volume for you all to enjoy, kind of an antidote to all the Christmas music around, got nothing against the Xmas tunes (if you’ve not OD on them already then pick up some seasonal nuggets from My Aimz is True and A Truer Sound) but come 27th December it’s time to twang again, so here’s selection box to end the decade with.
