Mark Lennon - Down the Mountain

Mark Lennon is a roots singer / songwriter originally from North Carolina now transplanted to the West Coast he lives in LA where he plays and records with his band Jacob Morgan, Jerry Zacarias, Yoehi Shikano, Mike Russeck and Dean Vivirito along with a “talented bunch” of friends producing songs of “lost love, reflection, family and longing for the south”, one of Mark’s talented friends is Simone Stevens who add’s her gorgeous vocal to Wildside, one of the albums best tracks – brass, piano and guitar combine on a fragile but crafted duet featuring some lovely harmonies, Mark is no slouch himself when it comes to vocals – there’s a palpable yearning in his voice as he sings “My Hometown” another highlight from the album.

Dropkick – Abelay Hotel

This post is long overdue, sorry guys, Scottish power-pop alt-country band Dropkick have recently released a new album which you can get your hands on here for a bargain price including delivery worldwide.

The band started with brothers Andrew and Alastair Taylor along with Ian Greer in 1995 playing original punk-pop before settling into their brand of alt-country power pop , not a band to rest easy this bunch of talented gents have chalked up eight previous releases with various line-ups, on the current release Andrew (Vocals, Guitars, Drums) and Alastair (Vocals, Guitars, Pedal Steel) are joined by Roy W. Taylor (no relation on Vocals and Guitars) and Scott Tobin (Bass and Vocals).
